Same Sex – Same Emotion
It saddens me to read in The Guardian today about a couple
being turned away from a luxury hotel resort because they were gay. The couple
had hoped to hold their wedding reception there but the owner “ushered them out”
and said that they were not welcome at her hotel.
I know homophobia is alive and well but it still astounds me
that people can be so backward. It was at my brother’s same sex wedding that I
was first inspired to become a celebrant. My brother explained to me that he
was concerned about choosing a registrar because he was worried that they may
be homophobic and would just go through the motions not embrace the special
event.
My brother and his husband had a very happy wedding day. I
will always remember the way they looked into each other’s eyes when they made
their vows. Although they were both
nervous, there was no need because everything went smoothly and the room was
full of love and well wishes.
Choosing a Celebrant means that you can say “I do” any
place, anyhow, anywhere. Celebrants provide a non-religious tailor made
ceremony to make your day a unique and most memorable event.
If you would like to have a chat about what I can do for you
just give me a call or drop me an email, there is no obligation. I am based in
Suffolk but I am willing to travel so let me know if I can help you.
