Same Sex – Same Emotion

It saddens me to read in The Guardian today about a couple being turned away from a luxury hotel resort because they were gay. The couple had hoped to hold their wedding reception there but the owner “ushered them out” and said that they were not welcome at her hotel.

I know homophobia is alive and well but it still astounds me that people can be so backward. It was at my brother’s same sex wedding that I was first inspired to become a celebrant. My brother explained to me that he was concerned about choosing a registrar because he was worried that they may be homophobic and would just go through the motions not embrace the special event.

Humans have and feel the same emotions whether you are a man or a woman. If two people decide to make a commitment to each other it shouldn't matter if they are a man and women or same sex. The commitment, feeling and emotions still feel the same.

My brother and his husband had a very happy wedding day. I will always remember the way they looked into each other’s eyes when they made their vows.  Although they were both nervous, there was no need because everything went smoothly and the room was full of love and well wishes.

Choosing a Celebrant means that you can say “I do” any place, anyhow, anywhere. Celebrants provide a non-religious tailor made ceremony to make your day a unique and most memorable event.

If you would like to have a chat about what I can do for you just give me a call or drop me an email, there is no obligation. I am based in Suffolk but I am willing to travel so let me know if I can help you.

Your Choice – Your Way

Not everybody knows that to have a civil wedding ceremony you do not need to go to the local registrar. Registrars do a great job but if you don’t want a bog standard wedding and you want to have a personalised ceremony, which has been designed especially for you a celebrant can do this for you.

Celebrants sometimes referred to as Humanists provide a non-religious ceremony and are becoming increasingly popular for weddings, renewal of vows, naming ceremonies and funerals.

I am accredited by the UK Society of Celebrants to provide weddings and naming ceremonies. When we first meet to design your ceremony I will provide suggestions about poems, readings and different traditional elements from around the world that you may like to include in your unique day.

There is so much choice, every ceremony is unique and tailor made to your needs. Suffolk has so many beautiful venues, I can help you find an enchanted space or a grand venue, the choice is yours. I can promise you a most memorable day.

So if you would like to say “I do” in a unique way let me help you make it happen.
